#05 Did you know Europe is highly dependent on external countries for battery supply?

Check out how below!

Europe’s energy transition is currently hindered by a precarious reality: the continent is heavily dependent on external nations, particularly China, for its entire battery supply chain. This dependency exists across the entire value chain, from the extraction and processing of critical raw materials such as lithium and cobalt to the high-tech production of battery cells. For Europe this is more than a logistical challenge it is a serious geopolitical and economic risk.

So how can Europe secure its energy future and protect its industries from global supply disruptions?

By developing and scaling up advanced manufacturing processes for Solid-State Batteries (SSB), the HyLiST project is doing more than just advancing tech, it is building a local, resilient battery supply chain from the ground up:

  • Strengthening European sovereignty by localizing production

  • Building a resilient infrastructure capable of withstanding global shifts

  • Ending the dependence on foreign monopolies for raw materials and cells

By fostering innovation within our borders, we are ensuring that the future of European mobility and energy is developed, manufactured, and secured in Europe.
