HyLiST 2nd General Assembly in Tampere, Finland
From the 28th to the 29th of January, 2026, the HyLiST consortium gathered in the picturesque, snowy landscape of Tampere, Finland, for our 2nd General Assembly. It was two intensive days of collaboration, strategic planning, and technical alignment, all set against the innovative backdrop of the Nokia Arena PAIDIA and Tampere University.
The meeting kicked off with an energized welcome from our Finnish hosts, led by Amandeep Singh (Tampere University) and Professor Martti Kauranen, Dean of Tampere University. Their opening remarks set the stage for a meeting defined by high energy and a shared mission to revolutionize the European battery industry.
Project coordinator Meisam (Sam) Hasanpoor (AIT) reinforced this spirit, reminding the consortium that our strength lies in our diversity. As shown in the opening presentations, the HyLiST culture is built on:
Mutual respect and appreciation of expertise.
A shared commitment to excellence and real-world impact.
Positive energy that fuels our technical progress.
With the first year of the project successfully under our belts, the assembly provided a vital space to look back at our foundational milestones and look forward to the challenges ahead.
Year 1 Reflection: Partners presented the progress made in developing hybrid solid electrolytes and cobalt-free LNMO cathodes, celebrating the technical hurdles already overcome.
Strategic Trajectory: We held deep-dive discussions on our roadmap to ensure we remain on the most efficient path toward delivering high-performance, 4b Generation Solid-State Batteries for the automotive and aviation sectors.
Interactive Stakeholder Workshop: One of the event’s highlights was a hands-on session dedicated to stakeholder mapping. By identifying key industry players and policymakers early on, we are ensuring that HyLiST’s scientific results translate into tangible, large-scale impact.
As the photo from our plenary session shows, the HyLiST team is more than just a collection of researchers; it is a dedicated consortium with a “goal-oriented mindset.” Whether it was brainstorming in breakout rooms or navigating the snowy streets of Tampere, the sense of camaraderie was palpable.
Great things are never done by a single person—they are done by a team. As we head into the second year of the project, we leave Tampere with renewed focus, stronger partnerships, and the collective expertise needed to drive Europe’s clean energy transition.
