HyLiST official launch at the AIT headquarters in Vienna (Austria)

“I believe we are off to a fantastic start!”

This is how Sam Hasanpoor, HyLiST scientific coordinator, qualified the outcomes of HyLiST Kick-off Meeting on January 14th and 15th 2025. At the occasion, the 13 partners from the consortium got together at the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), in Vienna (Austria) to officially launch the project and have the first in-person discussions and brainstorming about the activities planned and how to achieve the best outcomes.

The event benefited from the online participation of Martha Gialampouki, representing the CINEA – European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, who enlightened participants about different aspects of EU programmes priorities until 2027, the Strategic R&I agenda of BATT4EU and specific administrative procedures for the success of our project. This first presentation was essential for ensuring the project´s activities will create further synergies in the European battery innovation community while supporting the fulfilment of the European ambitions.

The high-level introduction also counted with the presence of Chimani Christian, AIT’s Head of Center for Transport Technologies, Katja Fröhlich, AIT´s Head of Competence unit “Battery Technologies”, who welcomed participants and underscored the institution full commitment towards the success of HyLiST´s outcomes. Following with AIT agenda, Natalie Bruckmüller and Sam Hasanpoor presented the activities foreseen in WP1 “Project Coordination”;

In the sequence of presentations, FEV Europe GmbH representatives Youngoh Park and Dr. Arash (Seyedhosein) Payandeh presented the activities in WP2 “Technical Requirements & Specifications”; Pulsedeon OY CEO, Jari Liimatainen, presented the work in WP3 “Cathode and anode processing and upscaling”; CIDETEC, in the hands of Kevin Vattappara, presented the foreseen work in WP4 “Hybrid Solid electrolyte processing”; Uppsala University, through Guiomar Hernández, presented the work in WP5 “Interfaces characterisation and optimisation”; AIT Austrian Institute of Technology additional member, Sneha M, presented the work in WP6 “Cell production”; IFP Energies nouvelles representative Sara ABADA presented the work in WP7 “Multiphysics Multiscale modelling of SSB capturing ageing phenomena”; Maurizio Alberti, representing Piaggio Aerospace, presented the work to be carried out in WP8 “Industrial PoC Validation”; Maeva Lavigne Philippot, from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, presenting the planned work in WP9 “Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and recycling”; and Andréia Santos, project manager at F6S Innovation, took the lead to present WP10 “Communication, Dissemination & Exploitation”.

In addition to all presentations concerning the project´s activities, participants could also take part in an insightful “Pro-action café”, which divided the room into 4 groups to discuss challenges and solutions for four main areas: Communication, Component Development, Cell Assembly, and Industrial Requirements & Validation. Such insightful event was complemented by a Workshop on “Multicriteria Optimisation of Material Environmental Impacts”, in which partners discussed how to populate HyLiST´s  inventory for Life Cycle Assessment, analyse and interpret it for carrying out an impact assessment.

By the end of the in-person meeting, consortium partners had the opportunity to have a guided tour at the Battery Materials Laboratory of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, led by our coordinator, Sam Hasanpoor, and AITs technical manager, Sneha M.

Stay tuned for more interesting news about our activities!
