Meet the partners: CIDETEC Energy Storage
“For CIDETEC Energy Storage, the project HyLiST is an exciting opportunity to push the development of next-generation solid-state lithium metal batteries to new limits within the European R&D landscape by our long experience in lithium-ion and lithium metal solid state battery research. We will contribute to HyLiST by developing and optimizing hybrid single-ion-conducting solid polymer electrolytes that offer enhanced mechanical stability and ionic conductivity, enabling their application in next-generation solid-state cells. Additionally, we will participate in the design and development of LNMO||Li metal cells, aiming for practically relevant areal capacities and energy densities that exceed current state-of-the-art values. CIDETEC will take part in the development and investigation of potential failure mechanisms by the analysis of interfaces between the electrodes and the solid polymer electrolyte as well as multiscale model development as holistic approach to advance high-energy solid-state Lithium metal batteries further towards practical application.”
CIDETEC is a recognised European research center focused on the development of advanced Li-ion and post Li technologies such as lithium metal SSBs.
The CIDETEC Energy Storage team focuses on developing and improving materials, components, and processes during the whole manufacturing chain, aiming at further increasing the energy density and performances of developed cells and at responding to the industrial needs. CIDETEC’s pilot plant is strongly linked with the simulation research team which works on creating a fully digitalised production process along with improving cell components via modelling
CIDETEC is leading WP4 ”Hybrid solid electrolyte processing” and participating in WP5 ““Interphase characterisation and optimisation”, WP6 “Cell production”, WP7 “Multiphysics Multiscale modelling of SSB capturing ageing phenomena” and WP9 “Life cycle assessment and recycling”.
CIDETEC counts with a strong, expertise-led team, including Kevin Vattappara, Agustina Descalzo Acuaz, Andriy Kvasha, Elizaveta Nikulina, Lukas Haneke, Elixabete Ayerbe Olano, Nabor Jiménez Segura, Juan Bendito Barrio, Diego del Olmo Díaz, and Beñat Larrarte Lizarralde.
