HyLiST: The future of battery is here

The HyLiST project, a groundbreaking European initiative, is at the forefront of revolutionizing battery technology. Our mission is clear: to develop next-generation hybrid solid-state batteries that are not only safer and more powerful but also significantly more durable.

At the heart of HyLiST’s innovation is a meticulous approach to developing advanced battery components. We’re starting from the ground up, optimising elements from innovative cathodes and cutting-edge anodes to highly efficient electrolytes. Specifically, we’re focusing on creating high-performance, cobalt-free HV LNMO cathode composites and integrating advanced Hybrid Solid Electrolytes (HSEs). This strategic combination introduces fast additional percolation pathways for lithium-ion diffusion, allowing for higher electrode thickness and loadings – a critical step towards superior energy density.

Beyond lab-scale devices, HyLiST is committed to translating these breakthroughs into reality. We are actively working to upscale our optimszed battery components to industrially relevant prototypes, employing state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques. This includes pioneering wet processing technology for cathode composites and utilising Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) for manufacturing ultra-thin lithium metal anodes. From materials development to cell assembly, sustainability, safety, and recyclability are core pillars guiding our entire process. HyLiST is not just building batteries; we’re crafting smarter, greener, and more powerful energy storage solutions for the future.The large-scale production of SSBs will create new economic opportunities and the integration of novel and sustainable manufacturing technologies will reduce costs and increase competitiveness in the European battery market.
